Avoid alcohol and caffeine

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, strenuous exercise, and blood-thinning medication where medically appropriate for 24 hours before treatment.

Cold sore history

If you have a history of cold sores, speak to your healthcare professional about whether antiviral medication is recommended before treatment.

Keep lips clean

Keep your lips clean and use the recommended aftercare balm.

Do not pick

Avoid picking, peeling, or scratching any flaking skin.

Avoid heat and water exposure

Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, and excessive sweating until fully healed.

Avoid lip makeup

Do not apply makeup to the treated area while the lips are healing.

Protect from sun

Avoid sunbeds and direct sun exposure on the lips while healing, and use SPF once healed.

Healing takes time

Final colour typically settles over 4–8 weeks.

Mild swelling, tenderness, dryness, and darker initial colour are normal. Follow all aftercare advice to support healing and colour retention.
